How it Works
We realize that an initial consultation with a professional can cause some level of anxiety for many of us. There are unknowns concerning what to bring, what to expect and what may happen next. Below is a brief description of what we will discuss in an initial consultation as well as an outline of what follows.
The Initial Consultation – we will provide you with a brief list of what to bring to this meeting. This request is always subject to you sharing with us what you feel comfortable sharing at this meeting. At this meeting we will tell you about us and how we work with our clients. Most importantly you will tell us about yourself. We will want to know about you, where you are now, where you want to be in the future and who you want to be there with you. We will not ask whether you are interested in becoming a client at this meeting. If we mutually agree then we will schedule a second, follow up meeting.
Our Follow Up Meeting – we will provide you with the outline of a draft financial plan and/or investment proposal based on the information you provided at your initial consultation. We feel this will give you an overview of how we work, how we view risk and returns, and how we think about the financial planning process as it relates to your goals. At the end of this meeting we will ask how you think and feel about what we have presented, we will tell you what the fee will be for our services and what steps to take next. If you decide that you would like to work with us then we will schedule the next meeting, sign the appropriate agreements, and let you know what additional information, if any, that we need ahead of that next meeting. If you are not sure and would like more time to think about it that’s okay too.
The Strategy Meeting – we will review your financial plan and/or investment proposal to be sure that we properly understand your goals and concerns in depth and that you understand and are comfortable with what we are proposing. At all times we are open to any questions, comments and concerns you would like us to address. One of the most profound ways to show respect for another person is by listening attentively to what they are saying and by hearing not only what they are saying but also what they are not saying.
Your Follow Up Meeting – we will update the implementation of your financial plan and answer any questions regarding both open and closed issues. While you will always be kept up to date, if applicable, regarding any recommended changes we feel that it’s important for us to help you become familiar with and organize the information you will be receiving. We will also agree on a schedule for your regular progress meetings.
Progress Meetings – these meetings will focus on the various aspects of your financial plan and the progress that has been made in each area. Additionally, if applicable, we will include a review of your investment portfolio for assets that we are managing on your behalf. An important benefit of these meetings is that they provide you with an opportunity to tell us about any significant life changes, financial or otherwise.
